New PC! Yay! Thanks to Obi for the loan. I needed to get my own computer. He needed his laptop back. So this is, err, a win-win situation. More win for me, though. So yeah, Obi, I am forever in your debt.
I was only supposed to help Bruce dig out their spare PC from their storage room so that I can have a computer to use while I’m saving up for my own. However, upon Obi’s inspection, the computer no longer works. Sad. So sad.
So off to V-Mall we went to check out stuff. We were able to see a really cute micro-tower – the Asus Eee Box B202. According to the guy that we spoke with earlier, it costs around 15k+++ to get the package (the box, keyboard, mouse, and 22″ LCD monitor), but when Obi and I went back to check it, the actual price of the package was actually almost 25k. Jeez.
We roamed around hoping to find something space-efficient enough to fit my little room. We found an Acer micro tower for 9k. According to the attendant, it costs 9k but you’d have to buy the processor and the memory for it. It doesn’t come with a keyboard and a mouse, it doesn’t have a dvd reader/writer, and definitely no monitor. So if you were to put in the actual parts you need to get it to work as you want it to, it would cost around 23k, 22″ LCD monitor included. Cheaper than the Eee Box, but still rather expensive.
So we went around the entire floor looking for any cheap alternatives we could find. But alas! There were none. Or so until we thought about assembling the entire thing ourselves.
Monitor? Check. We’re just going to use the one Bruce was supposed to lend me.
Off to store #1. How much for this and that part? Does the casing come with a keyboard and a mouse? Do you charge extra for assembly? All in all, they said they’d give it 10k. We said our thanks and moved on to store #2.
Inside store #2, we asked the attendants for quotations on the same parts. They were kind enough to cut us some discount and offer us a final price of 9,900. Again, we thanked the attendant and went on our way to store #3.
For store #3, we went to Obi’s trusted store – Gilmore Place. They were kind enough to indulge us with price quotations. All in all, they gave us the final price of around 11,500. Not bad, considering that the attendant was putting in branded parts in the list she made.
Finally, store #4. We found out that they had package offers. Obi’s eyes were caught by a packaged priced at 10800. We asked them if it was possible to remove the CRT Monitor in the package and they said yes. They recomputed the package and gave it to us at 8900. We asked if it was possible to change the DVD reader to a reader/writer. Again, they agreed and gave us the package at 9500. We checked other places out and talked stuff over sticks of cigarettes.
We decided to go with store #4. Here’s what we got:
Obi was kind enough to throw in one of those computer TV tuners so I can do away with the TV and the DVD player at home. I’ll be sending it back to my mother this Saturday.More room on the table. Yay!
Anywho, Obi was kind enough to help me set it up at home last night after much room redesigning. Today, Obi is going to install Windows XP (Vista sucks! Ubuntu rocks!) to the computer, as well as other applications I might need in the future. It’s just sad that I can’t use Ubuntu because then I won’t be able to use the damned Sony Ericsson PC Suite. He’ll also be giving me their old set of sound blasters (very 90s sounding, they’re just casual speakers nowadays) so I can listen to music.
On my end, I already have a hundred plus songs and the SE PC Suite that I’ll need to use the cellphone as a modem. Everything’s almost set up. I can work at home now. Yay!!
Can you tell that I’m excited? Hahahaha. Pictures next time.
Yes.. I’m Sad. But it’s not because I’m not happy. But because I’m always so tired I can’t enjoy the things I would rather be doing.
So I took on a part-time, freelance job, right? It isn’t working out so hot for me. I barely finish on time. And the work they ask of me is just beyond me. Everything is new to me at this point – writing, learning SEO, blogging for traffic, everything!
And if it’s not enough, some guy invited me for an interview and insisted I took on a job – any job – for him. So from content writer, I got a job making 10-slide presentations for 3.5USD an hour. And I’m supposed to put out 2 slideshows a day, one every hour. Not bad, if you think about it. And if you don’t consider the fact that I haven’t done serious slideshow presentations for money.
So now, I’m literally in way over my head. I wasn’t able to finish one slideshow presentation in 2 hours, much more finish one every hour.
I’m glad opportunities are coming along, I’m just not sure if I’m ready for any of it.
To break off this sadness I’m feeling, let’s create something cute.
Found a really niftly link where you can make manga faces. Click here to create a manga version of yourself.
Here are me and Obi, turned into manga characters:
You come home from work
fighting your way through
a typhoon raging the metro.
You get home drenched
in rain and flood waters
knowing damn well
it will be difficult to go out again.
You look around the house to find laundry
stacked up
waiting to be washed
You look up to see clothes
hanging on the clothesline
waiting to be ironed
You look at the time and think about
how much you need to go out
and do your extra work
It takes days like yesterday to make me realize my body has not quite caught up with all the work I signed myself up for.
And it doesn’t help that people offer help when they’re miles away, knowing damn well that the help I need, I need right here and right now. Not tomorrow, not there, but here and now.
Offer appreciated, that much I can say. But I can’t say that I’m glad you offered. Because it made me feel worse than I was already feeling.
Yep. This would be my first time working in wordpress. Anywho.. If you’d like to know more about me or the things that I’ve been blogging about for the past 3 years, visit my multiply site, my tabulas blog, or my blogspot blog.
And yeah. Like how many a wordpress blog starts. I’d like to shout out a loud “Hello World!” to everybody using wordpress.
I was lucky enough to have come across great black and white photos in this multiply site. Turns out he’s using a Fuji Neopan ISO 1600.

Where the hell can I get that?
I searched around in Ebay, only to find out in this page that 5 pieces of the said roll costs 16.49 GBP (I think it stands for Great Britain Pound?) Guess how much GBP is when converted to PHP.
That’s 1 GBP = 82.017404 PHP!! All in all, if I choose to purchase the rolls, that would cost me 1352.47 PHP. At 270.50 a roll, I could get an Ilford 3200 from OhShoot Lomo. The film is rather expensive.
Then again, I don’t have any money to buy that. Pfft.
I can’t seem to connect to wi-fi spots even if they’re free. But when I try to look for free wi-fi areas, I found a really long list of places here.
When I visit the Airborne Access site for free wi-fi spots that I can use the Smart Wi-fly at, I can’t say for certain whether the places indicated are still working or have already been removed. I’ve got to rove around tomorrow to make sure.
It is what feeds me, keeps me out of the mud hole I’m supposed to be in because of my credit card bills.
It is what I do in the office, to make sure I am worth every penny they pay me.
It is what I do in my free time outside the office, to ensure that I get extra cash.
But I am slowly growing tired of it.
